My 5 year old took swim lessons for the first time, and I am glad that we took them from Mrs Stephanie!!! By the end of the week, she swam completely across the pool and back. I was so proud of her, and all the hard work and love that Stephanie puts into these kids. They all seemed to love her and felt completely comfortable with her techniques. We will be back again next year :)

Both of my children took swim lessons this summer with Stephanie for the 1st time and loved it. It was fun because of the games that she incorporated with learning new swim/floating techniques. We will be back next summer.

My daughter, Zoey, had swimming lessons with Stephanie this summer for the first time and I was very pleased with how well Stephanie interacts with the children. She is a great teacher. My daughter learned a lot and I will be coming back in the future.

My children enjoy lessons given by Mrs.Stephanie. They practice what she asks of them in our pool, our bathtub, etc. they do not want to disappoint her! Thank you for loving our children with discipline and spreading your love for The Lord! It's a wonderful ministry you have w: swimmers. Thank u!:-)

My 3 year old has taken lessons the last 2 summers. He has made so much progress. When he started, he was very afraid to get in the water. The second day of his first week, he was already so much more calm! Thank you Stephanie!!

Noah Bear

Jul 01, 2011 by Leslie Buckner Thomas

When we moved to this area, one of the first things I wanted to do was put my son, Noah, in swim lessons. Noah has autism, and like most children with autism, he is drawn to water. Knowing that accidental drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children with autism, I knew that swim lessons were a must. But not only was there not a public pool in our area, we also hadn’t met very many people who were accepting of Noah. How on earth where we going to find a swim teacher – let alone a decent one – and one who was open to working with children who had special needs?Fortunately, a friend recommended Stephanie. At the time, she hadn’t worked with children with autism, but she was very open to working with Noah and my other two children, one who has sensory and anxiety issues and the other who has mild cerebral palsy. At first, I was skeptical. Would she be able to handle my three children with all their vast and varied needs? Would she have patience with my middle child who was terrified of the water? Would she be able to control my youngest child who has no fear and who would jump in the water without thinking? And most importantly, would she be able to foster Noah’s love for the water while still teaching him basic water safety to prevent him from my biggest fear of all, accidental drowning. I have to tell you that all my fears were washed away the minute their first swim lesson began. Stephanie was wonderful with our kids! In fact, when I tell my friends about her, I jokingly refer to her as the “autism whisperer”. She is AMAZING with special needs children. Not only does she truly enjoy working with our children, but I believe she possesses a gift for reaching our children. She is patient, tolerant, accepting, gentle, funny, talented, and simply just a wonderful person.I know that it’s scary to trust our children with just anyone. But I have full trust in Stephanie and I know that she has my children’s best interests both in the water – and out.I highly recommend anyone who has a special needs child and who has been thinking about enrolling them in swim lessons to try Steph’s Swimmers.
You won’t regret it.
And you’ll make a friend for life!
Sincerely,

Leslie Thomas

I have a 5 year old daughter Karleigh Due who was so nervous about being in the water. Steph has made learning so much fun for her. By the third day of her swimming lessons she was jumping of the diving board and swimming all the way across the pool!! I couldnt have asked for anyone better to work with her.
I also have a 3 year old son Karson Due he is not afraid of anything and goes full speed non stop. Steph helped him slow down and he learned so much!! He loves playing games in the pool that he learned from Steph and swimming under the water! Both of my kids didnt want their lessons to end!! I am so thankful to Steph for teaching my kids so well!!!
